Strategy & Sustainable Business Model Design

A revenue model can assume that water, materials and energy will stay available at today's prices. We evaluate your business model against the limits it operates in, including the planetary boundaries, and rebuild what does not hold: where it competes, how it earns and what it relies on.

For: Business

Is your company's operating logic, what it sells, how it makes it and what it depends on, aligned with your sustainability goals? Does it rely on assumptions that might not hold in the future?

Sustainability ambitions now outrun the business model. The misalignment sits in how the business creates and captures value, so growth options stall, costs and supply risks accumulate, capital stays tied to the old logic, and licence to operate erodes. A sustainability lead can own commitments the model cannot meet while the chief executive answers to a board pressing for results. No single function owns the gap, so the business pays for it in value left on the table and value put at risk.

Our approach

  1. Identify the shifts that decide viability

We find the shifts that will decide whether a business model stays viable, and show what is at risk if it does not change: a revenue line, a supply relationship, a cost structure.
  2. Redesign within planetary boundaries

For each exposed part of the model (where it competes, how it earns, what it relies on), we work with you to establish more fitting alternatives that are compatible with the planetary boundaries, so you can choose between credible options and build agility in your strategic pipeline.
  3. Build the partnerships the model relies on

Where the model draws on the natural resources and ecosystem services you do not own, part of the risk sits outside your control. We work out how to leverage external resources and build synergistic partnerships that preserve natural capital.
  4. Hand over a strategy grounded in realism

A strategy only benefits a business when the diagnosis is clear and it is built for action. We hand over the strategy, the evidence behind each choice and a decision process your team owns, so the board can back it and the work carries on without us.

Bring the decision you cannot yet answer with confidence.

A first conversation starts with the choice in front of you and the limit it should be tested against.
